Project-Based Inquiry
For our project based inquiry project, my group wanted to answer the following question: "To what extent does Seesaw impact students automaticity in fluency?" Seesaw in an online tool that allows students to independently add pictures and videos of their work. We began this inquiry process by giving teacher guided instruction to students about the elements of fluency, and more specifically the subcomponent of automaticity. This lesson included students becoming aware of how the speed and accuracy of their reading affects their fluency and overall comprehension of a text. By using Seesaw, students were able to independently assess their automaticity when reading teacher provided passages. They enjoyed being able to record and listen to themselves on their video recordings so they could assess what they needed to work on in the future. This program also allowed the teachers to record students WCPM, or words correct per minute score, to keep for data and instructional purposes.

Take a look at these frameworks that were incorporated into this inquiry project!
ISTE Standards
"The ISTE Standards for Students are designed to empower student voice and ensure that learning is a student-driven process" (ISTE Standards for Students 2020). All of these standards aim at helping students curate their own learning while integrating technology tools in our digital world. See the following slideshow which addresses how one of these standards directly ties to other technology frameworks such as the "Triple E" framework and what the benefits are of gamification classrooms!

Cool Tool Blast
As teachers we constantly look for ways to integrate technology tools that actively engage our students. Plickers is an online tool that allows students to participate in whole class informal or formal assessments. This tech tool does not require students to have a device, but rather a Plickers card that looks like a QR code. Once teachers have created their quiz slideshow online, they can easily scan students answer cards. Each card has four sides so students can easily turn their card to share which answer choice they have chosen. Plickers allows students to independently engage in whole group assessment exercises with ease. Students from as early as Kindergarten can can use Plickers Cards to share their answer choices in a fun, meaningful way that allows teachers to collect valuable data.
What do students think about the use of technology in the classroom?
